Pretreatment before biological

Industrial wastewater is very diverse, depending on the type of sector and the manufacturing process. Unlike urban wastewater, the composition received by the IWWTP is highly variable and unstable, with changes in flow, temperature, and contaminants. Ozone is the solution for pre-oxidation before the biological stage, as it removes contaminants such as detergents, reduces organic matter, pre-oxidizes recalcitrants, and above all, improves the COD/BOD ratio, making the water more biodegradable.  

Polishing post-treatment

If the biological treatment works properly and pretreatment is not necessary, but the discharge value is very high due to the initial composition of the effluent, ozone can act as a polishing treatment, reducing color, turbidity, and final COD. This results in reduced discharge fees or even compliance with discharge parameters.

Pre-treatment

The IWWTP may work perfectly, but water reuse for the industrial process can be considered. The new RD 1085/2024 establishes the basic regulation for water management, allows the reuse of wastewater in different applications, and ozone is the ideal technology to achieve these parameters.
